About Me

finding a lawyer before you need one

If you were to have a legal problem, would you know who to call? Would you have to spend time looking into the history and reviews of several attorneys before you could get to work resolving the legal issue you are facing? I watched as my sister went through some issues and didn't have a lawyer that she could call immediately. I learned an important lesson from that situation. If you don't have a lawyer that you can call if you need one, now is the time to start looking into your options. My blog will show you what to look for in a general attorney.

Protect Your Rights: What To Do If You've Been Struck By A Car During A Peaceful Protest

If you were struck by a car while protesting, you may think that you don't have any legal recourse. That's not the case. Drivers don't have the right to plow through pedestrians, even if their vehicles are being blocked. If you're like most people, you might not realize that you have the right to seek legal help after this type of accident. But you do. Here are four steps you need to take to make sure your rights are protected if you've been struck by a car during your involvement in a peaceful protest.

Document the Accident

If a driver struck you with their car while you were involved in a peaceful protest, don't forget the details. You need to document as much information about the accident as you can. Write down all the details you can remember, including where the incident took place and the date of the incident. If the driver continued on after hitting you, talk to friends who were at the protest with you. They might have taken pictures or video that captured information about the driver, including what the car looks like and the license plate number. This information can help officials track down the person who struck you with their car.

Seek Medical Attention

If you were hit by a car during a protest, seek medical attention as soon as you can. This is important, even if you don't think you were seriously injured. You may have suffered injuries that aren't visible to the naked eye or that will take time to show symptoms. Waiting too long to see a doctor could put you at risk for a serious medical emergency. If you don't have insurance, don't let that keep you from getting medical help.

File a Police Report

If you were the victim of a pedestrian-versus-car accident during a recent protest, you need to file a police report. This is an important step in the process, especially in a hit-and-run situation. Local law enforcement can use information obtained from the scene to track down the person responsible for your injuries. Provide as many details as you can when you file your report. Be sure to get a copy of the report for your own records.

Hire an Attorney

If your involvement in a peaceful protest resulted in injuries related to a hit-and-run accident, talk to an attorney immediately. Once the driver is located, an attorney can help you recover monetary compensation for your injuries.
